Wicked Stormy

Birch, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 28 October 2016.

Birch.

About a minute after Jack and I began our Beech Hill hike this afternoon in high wind and rain, I heard the strident note of a sparrow. Looked up, and there it was—a white-crown, teed up on the swaying tip of a head-high bush. Well, I mad an effort to pull out my camera, focus, and snap off a full-zoom shot of a swaying bird in high wind and rain. Didn’t happen.

Still I memorable hike, though.
