Turkey Vultures.
Drippy and barely above freezing this morning, but warm enough to melt a lot of snow. Heard a Pileated Woodpecker out back, took my camera out just in case, spied it, didn’t get a great photo—but I did record its particular hole-carving technique on video (which I will post another time).

Pileated Woodpecker.
Jays out there. Crows. Desk work in here.
Finally, in late-afternoon, Jack and I headed over to the hill for a hike. About that time, the sun came out. The trail was muddy, mucky, slushy, succulent. Heard a pileated up there, too. Spotted three vultures. Cardinals singing all over the place today. Heard a raven.
It truly feels like spring out there, tonight. I miss hearing woodcocks, though.
