Dessert

October 24th, 2015
Birch, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 24 October 2015.

Birch.

Finished moving today. A physical ordeal, but ultimately so satisfying emotionally. Sore, hurtin’, tired, happy.

After hauling that last load to the dump, I did find time to walk up Beech Hill with dog. For dessert.

Few others there today. Overcast and blue and lovely. Saw a Hermit Thrush.

Oddly, I heard no crows.

Sweet late hike

October 23rd, 2015
Evening crow, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 23 October 2015.

Evening crow.

An intense day of moving, followed by a sweet late hike with dog at Beech Hill Preserve. Crows still active up there, flapping and soaring above the barrens, all the while hollering at each other. Yellow-rumps. And my first junco in a while.

Fire in the sky, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 23 October 2015.

Camden

October 22nd, 2015

Moon and leaves, Camden, Maine, 22 October 2015.

Moon and leaves.

Jack and I did not hike Beech Hill today. Weird. Crazy. Bizarre. What planet am I on?

It’s because we’re moving to Camden. And when you have fifteen years of accumulated personal and business property in one place, and you’re handling it all by yourself, turns out it takes a load of time.

I missed the hill. We both did. But here’s a photo of the light of the moon tonight from a quiet street in Camden.

Today’s List

1. Black-capped Chickadee (v)
2. American Crow
3. White-breasted Nuthatch (v)
4. Herring Gull
5. Blue Jay
6. American Robin (v)
7. Rock Pigeon
