Feels Like Winter

Tuesday, December 27th, 2022
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 27 December 2022.
Yellow-rumped Warbler.

A nippy, overcast morning. Temps in the mid-20s (F), a tiny little western breeze we only felt on the open trail. Few birds—but a couple noteworthy ones.

Most noteworthy: a solitary Snow Bunting we spooked in back of the hut upon summiting, dog and I. Also had a couple nuthatches, a flicker, and the usual other suspects.

It’s starting to feel like winter, though. I like it.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
