Harrier

Wednesday, November 27th, 2019
Northern Harrier, East Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, 27 November 2019.
Northern Harrier.

Snow showers as dog and I ascended this morning. Overcast skies and a bit of wind. I did not expect to see more than a bird or two. Stunned to find six on my trail list—including a Northern Harrier circling above us (first harrier I’ve seen in Utah).

Not much in town, either—other than a bunch of pigeons. Birds and humans lay a littler lower when it snows. Well, in the case of humans, excepting the day before Thanksgiving.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
