Snow turning to rain this early morning, so dog and I waited a bit before hiking. Was gray, upper-thirties (F), and breezy when we started our climb along the snow-topped mud of the trail.
Heard plenty of birds, saw a couple. Then spied a raven down in the eastern field, poking about, picking things up—maybe evening swallowing them, hard to tell. Some kind of plant roots? Couldn’t tell.
Then the raven took flight and settled just over a rise very near us, posing. Then it headed away toward where I know there’s a raven’s nest somewhere.
