Got to the hill rather early for a Sunday, no one else around. Cool, breezy, sunny. Tiny bird sounds coming up through the first stretch of new leafy woodlands—and dog and I found ourselves surrounded by many small birds, young and old. Titmice, chickadees, a woodpecker I never got a look at (probably a downy, but I don’t know for sure), and a couple of juvie Chestnut-sided Warblers.
The rest of the hike was relatively birdless, but lovely just the same.
