Coldest Day of the Yar

Thursday, December 28th, 2017
Sea Smoke, Rockport Harbor, Maine, 28 December 2017.

Sea Smoke.

The temperature never topped 6 degrees (F) today, and hovered right around zero for much of it. There was a stout wind, and Sea smoke cloaked the bay. Heard on the radio that this was the coldest day of all of 2017—and the birds kept out of sight for the most part.

Common Raven, Rockport Harbor, Maine, 28 December 2017.

Common Raven.

I did, however, spy a raven flying high above Rockport Harbor.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
