Nearly freezing this morning, after an overnight cold front moved through. Not wintery at all compared to last year at this time, I keep having to remind myself—that big early-November snowstorm lasted pretty much all month, and then we got socked with more snow than ever in my years here. But the first snow in the forecast this season isn’t until December sometime, apparently. Fine by me.
Birds and rodents flitting and skittering about the babbling brook out back. I like it out there—the curvy stream bed, the leaf- and pine needle–strewn understory. Jack and I hit the hill in late morning.
By then we had a light overcast. Not a lot of wind. Another hairy woodpecker (this time a female). Other little birds.
Worked much of this Saturday. But also had a lovely phone chat with my daughter (as usual). And goofed around with my dog.
