Northern Bobwhite, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 22 July 2015.

Northern Bobwhite.

A lovely, busy, sunny day—topped off with a Beech Hill hike. Windy, though, and I heard few birds above the leaves—but at the summit, following a sudden call, I caught sight of my first Maine quail.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
