The daily robin

Thursday, March 12th, 2015
American Robin, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 12 March 2015.

American Robin.

Another busy day—but a lot chillier than my busy day yesterday. In fact, I wondered if I really needed snowshoes for my hike with Jack, since everything slushy seemed solid again. I did not wonder if I needed my heavy winter coat, though—the wind was howling.

Despite the wind, robins were fluttering around the slopes of Beech Hill again today for what must be at least a week of days. More. They sure must have great eyesight, too, scrambling over the crusted snow and tilting their heads to look down for something. Stuff. Little morsels of food among the newly exposed brown grass.

Tonight is still and chill, and the waning half moon hangs low in the eastern sky.
