Gray early. Promise of snow. It came in late morning.
By mid-afternoon, Jack and I were hiking Beech Hill with wet flakes clinging to our coats and stinging our eyes. Interestingly, I saw four bird species up there in the storm—three of them woodpeckers. The first bird was an American Tree Sparrow that seemed to follow us from the fringes, every now and then uttering its faint, distinctive seet!
The snow is coming down thick tonight, and there’s a little wind. Great glops of snow drop occasionally from the trees onto the back roof with a thump!
I’d like for the power to stay on—but, hey, that’s out of my control.
