Busy Friday. Lovely weather. Late hike up Beech Hill with Jack.
Plenty of birds, many of them still chasing fledglings around. Still the young sapsuckers near the parking lot. Still the singing towhees and sparrows. Unusual note of the day: a loudly singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
Met a nice couple at Beech Nut. They were dog lovers, Jack could tell. Talked a good while before heading back down.
While descending, I noticed three Great Blue Herons flying over. Heard an Eastern Bluebird and a Chipping Sparrow. Twice spotted Red-eyed Vireos.
Blueberries are in. A lot to harvest in the next couple weeks or so.
Yum.
