No bluebirds at Beech Hill today. Maybe because Jack and I got there fifteen minutes later than yesterday. Maybe because the batch we’d encountered the past few days had moved on. The sky sure was blue, though. And high up there in it hung a cool half-moon.
There were other birds, though—including a little kinglet I watched flitting about the shady boughs of a pine tree. A few other hikers also, both human and dog. And the air was fresh and clean. And the temperature mild. The wind calm.
We’ve lived through a lovely string of blue-sky days.
