Pigeons

Pair of Rock Pigeons, Rockland, Maine, 03 March 2019.
Pair of Rock Pigeons.

A little snow last night, but slip and slide as we did, neither Jack nor I fell down on the ice. Crazy thing is I found a banana peel somebody left on the trail at the summit—as if it’s not slippery enough already.

Scenic and lovely up there, but no photogenic birds. But I found a couple in town a bit later in the day.

Fast food crow, Rockport, Maine, 02 March 2019.
Fast food crow.

Winter’s not over yet. Warmish though it may be, the overcast sky and chilly northeast wind and online forecasts promise more snow—some tonight, a lot more tomorrow and Monday.

Then again, it’s understandable. I mean, winter’s not over yet.

The Turkey In Winter.

Warm today for a change. And by “warm,” I mean low 20s (F). Not a lot of wind, either. Met a few other hikers on the hill, had several birds on my list, got no great photos, though, so…

…later in the day, we swung by the harbor to watch the ice get soft. And also the ducks. Lots of ducks.

Then, back home, the neighborhood turkeys were poking about near Route 1.
