Some maintenance work was happening on the main carriage trail, so dog and I climbed the (tick-filled) wooded trail for a change this morning. Interesting waves of little birds moving through the chilly air. At one point I heard the subtle drilling of a Pileated Woodpecker and managed to sneak up for a photo or two.
In the woods I feel at home.
