Monarchs, ’Rumps, and Bayberries

Friday, October 20th, 2017
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 20 October 2017.

Yellow-rumped Warbler.

On this bright, breezy morning, I saw saw few birds but several monarchs. Monarchs on the hill and at home, fluttering low over the grass, somehow expertly navigating the wind’s gusts and swirls.

The yellow-rumps were dining on bayberries.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
