Dawn rose to reveal a clear, cloudless sky. Cooler out, and stiller. The storm has passed.
I had a college football game to watch, so Jack and I took an early hike today—an early hike up a still-colorful hill with birds flitting around in the periphery. None came very close, oddly, but they were there.
Also raptors: a red-tail, at least four harriers, and a pair of merlins. I didn’t get any pictures of the hawks.
I did stay a while, talking with folks up at the summit. The hut was open, and people began to appear as the sun warmed the morning. Then we returned home to watch the game.
The game sucked—but it was far from the most important part of this day.
