Awoke to about a half-inch of snow on everything. It had been foretold. Kind of nippy out there, too, if not very windy. Just a little gift from April.
As I took care of a bunch of desk work, the skies cleared and a little wind rose. Late in the day, dog and I took a quick hike up Beech Hill, where chickadees were singing fee-bee! and a pair of golden-crowned kinglets were chasing each other around. At the summit, a turkey vulture sailed slowly over, hardly even beating its wings.
Then, passing Chickawaukie Lake on the way home, I spied about a dozen cormorants arrayed on a float and a pair of Canada Geese eating grass.
Just a little icing on the April cake.
