Heat wave

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013
Hazy islands, from Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 11 September 2013.

Hazy islands.

Sure enough, it warmed up today. Turned on the fans again. Rode twenty miles on my bicycle, got all sweaty. Then hiked Beech Hill with Jack and Boone. Just about nobody else up there—neither bird nor human.

Oh, I did see one guy (and dog), and another guy was sitting in his truck in the parking lot. And I did see jays and song sparrows and a phoebe.

It was up in the 80s (F), for sure. A haze hung over the bay.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
