Overcast, chilly, and quiet this late morning when dog and I headed up the switchbacks. I did hear the calls of a few bird species—but didn’t see a single bird until we’d finished about three-fourths of our hike. Then, in a flurry, I spied five of seven total.
Only later, though, did I get a decent bird photo—when an eagle flew above the neighborhood as I was taking Jack on a quick walk down the street.
Serendipity.
