Morning Goldfinches

Tuesday, March 27th, 2018
American Goldfinch (stretching), Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 27 March 2018.

American Goldfinch (stretching).

the temperature topped freezing,
little collections of goldfinches
bounced about
in the tops of the birches,
chattering,
nibbling on catkins,
and squealing with glee.
