Today, with snow in the forecast, the woodpeckers came out. At home first thing, I had a pair of Hairy Woodpeckers and at least one Downy Woodpecker in the big tree out front. At Beech Hill, I had a pair of downies.

Also noteworthy was the Yellow-rumped Warbler I heard (then got a glimpse of) about half-way up the hill. No bluebirds to hang out with today, though.

By evening, our first measurable snow of the season had begun to pile up—soft, wet, gentle snow.
