Temperature Dip

Friday, January 13th, 2017
Northern Cardinal, Rockport, Maine, 13 January 2017.

Northern Cardinal (female).

Checked the temperature first thing: low 40s (F). High wind, though. When Jack and I hit Beech Hill in mid-morning, and the wind was whipping, and the temps had dipped well into the 50s. Was glad I thought to bring my winter coat.

It is winter, after all.

Not many birds up there—but a sweet lady cardinal out back about midday.

Tonight, just now, it’s 18 degrees.
