Before the Storm

Thursday, December 29th, 2016
Brown Creeper, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 29 December 2016.

Brown Creeper.

Before the storm, Jack and I hiked in tiny ice pellets and a slight chill breeze. Many small birds were out and about at the parking lot—among them more Brown Creepers. And I heard the voice of a Golden-crowned Kinglet.

No birds at the summit, though. Too exposed, I guess.

Rain tonight, snow inland. Our hike will be different tomorrow.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
