Today began with my helping move a refrigerator out to a pickup in the rain. The sky soon cleared, though, and the temperature dipped in all that airy brightness. No ceiling but for a caravan of billowy clouds. As the morning dun dried the landscape, I watched a Hairy Woodpecker poke about in an oak for a little while.
A busy Saturday—but with a break for a hike with Jack. Beech Hill offered few bird species, but stunning autumn scenery. In the midday sun, despite a stout breeze, I felt just about perfectly comfortable. In the shadows, I felt an undeniable chill.
I’m afraid, until next spring, this’ll be the last of my t-shirt days.
