White-breasted Nuthatch.

The crusts of snow are shrinking slowly, but the big ones will stick around a while at this rate. Good thing the weather will warm up eventually. It is, after all the first day of spring.

Red-tailed Hawk.

Got a little work done, got a little hike in. Quite a few birds at Beech Hill—more than lately, anyway. Pair of Downy Woodpeckers, pair of nuthatches, a gang of robins, and a Red-tailed Hawk perched ion top of one of the summit spruce trees. The ball of equinoctial sun glowed hazy through the overcast. Total eclipse earlier at Svalbard, Norway, and the Faroes.

Seems a tad warmer out there this evening. Wonder when the first woodcocks will arrive.
