Sweet wetness

American robin (juvenile).

In dreams last night I heard thunder. In brief awakenings, I saw lightning and understood how vigorously the rain came. Briefly, I wished for the big leaning oak tree to endure.

Rained all day in bursts. I stuck to my desk like glue. By late afternoon, it was drizzle—so I hiked Beech hill with my dog.

Blueberry dew, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 16 July 2014.

Blueberry dew.

Not many birds made their presences known, but I did see a Chestnut-sided Warbler, a Common Yellowthroat, Song Sparrows, and a young American Robin. I heard others—a few.

Wet, yes, but we’re lucky to have it. What they’d give in Texas or California.
