Worked at my desk a little, carried boxes down flights of stairs, shredded paper, stuff like that. Eventually, Jack and I made our way to Beech Hill, where we met quite a few people and a couple of dogs. Not many birds—well, numbers-wise, there were a lot of crows and yellow-rumped warblers (kind of oddly, the latter, considering there were so few yellow-rumps yesterday)—but it was nice to watch another little fluttering ruby-crowned kinglet in the small colorful hardwoods near the parking lot.
As we turned to come down from the summit, I heard a mom calling her toddler to toddle on down the trail to her and looked up to see the tiny boy just standing there, not feeling like moving—or at least not moving down. It was a funny enough sight to prompt me to take a photo.
No hawks, damn it. But oh, well. There will be hawks. (There pretty much always will.)
