This week has had the sort of weather you don’t mind getting out in. This day had a few more clouds than the last few, but the temperature was mild and the winds light. Worked, took a bicycle ride, then closed things with my usual hike with Jack, which found us climbing Beech Hill amid a nice little cluster of migrating songbirds. Yellow-rumped warblers and ruby-crowned kinglets, as in recent days. White-throated sparrows. Heard the voices of remnants of a few high-season residents—song sparrow, catbird, towhee—and watched a flicker bounce away over the hill.
Man, I love this season.
