Surprise thrills

Monday, November 26th, 2012
Moon over Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 26 November 2012.

Moon over Beech Hill.

Jack and I went nowhere today except Beech Hill. And that was toward the end of it. We were alone up there. It was right nippy. Good hike, though.

The moon was rising, nearly full. Heard a single nuthatch and saw a single chickadee. But at the summit, a good-sized flock of silent robins flew over, headed south-southwest. A surprisingly thrilling sight to see.

The whole hike was surprisingly thrilling, in fact. Heck, the whole day was.
