Muddersville

Saturday, February 20th, 2016
House Sparrow, Camden Harbor, Maine, 20 February 2016.

House Sparrow.

Rained all morning. My cold has moved into my head. Temps rose into the 40s. Took a hike with dog in mid-afternoon—in fact, about the same time as we’ve gone in several recent days—and managed to list a few bird species up there. Muddersville up there again, but that didn’t stop several others from braving the soggy elements.

Another hike with Jack, my dog

Moon rising over Mount Desert.

Still got a little cold goin’ on, so mostly desk work today, with a brief afternoon hike. Today was a lot like yesterday, but with less wind and fewer clouds. Also the waxing moon rising a little lower over the bay.

Chest cold

Thursday, February 18th, 2016
American Red Squirrel, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 18 February 2016.

American Red Squirrel.

Didn’t get out much today—just a mid-afternoon hike with Jack—because I’ve got a chest cold. Or something like a chest cold. Coughing, feeling blah. I don’t get sick a lot and am not a particularly good sick person.

Squirrel stance, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 18 February 2016.

Squirrel stance.

However, it was a lovely day. Half-cloudy, half-blue. Kind of a frigid northwest wind. Temps about freezing. All that snow sure vanished in a hurry.

Not many birds, but Jack had a little standoff with a squirrel. It was pretty funny.
