Also crows

American Crow, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 25 January 2016.

American Crow.

Got a ton of work done on the typeface. (Finished most of the italic alphabets.) Also did laundry. And hiked Beech Hill with Jack.

Saddle and Mark.

We met one person coming down near the parking lot, and we met some friend hikers on the way back near the parking lot. Otherwise, we were alone on our mid-afternoon walk on this (comparatively) mild, calm, lovely day. Few birds, but glorious winter weather.

Also crows.

Three living goldfinches

Sunday, January 24th, 2016
Work of hawk or owl, near Mount Battie, Camden, Maine, 24 January 2016.

Work of hawk or owl.

Teens today, and bright. Again I didn’t expect the kind of wind there was at Beech Hill.

At Beech Nut.

But, ahhh, what a beautiful day! No other people or dogs up there when Jack and I walked up this mid-morning. My lips went numb and my mustache froze, but I enjoyed the hell out of every minute. Even threw a stick for Jack a couple times at the lonesome summit.

Earlier, I came upon the wing of a goldfinch in the back yard. I don’t believe it was the work of a cat—pretty sure a hawk or owl. As I inspected the wing, three living goldfinches were calling from the sunny tip of a nearby tree buy levitra online canada.

Hazy moon tonight.

No flakes and chill

Saturday, January 23rd, 2016
White-breasted Nuthatch, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 23 January 2016.

White-breasted Nuthatch.

Overcast and mid-teens and not as breezy as the past couple days. At least that’s what I thought until—after a fruitful morning of doing errands—Jack and I headed up Beech Hill at high noon.

American Goldfinch, Rockport, Maine, 23 January 2016.

American Goldfinch.

We were alone on the hill for the forty-five minutes or so we were up there. Alone but for a few birds (all of them well away from the open summit). Elsewhere, along the roads and in the yards and sheltered harbors, were plenty of birds. Ducks, gulls, pigeons, titmice, finches. Above us, while I drove, I noticed a red-tail circling.

A few hundred miles south of here, millions of people are contending with a massive blizzard. We’re not expecting any snow for a week or more.
