Two dogs

White-breasted nuthatch, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 16 January 2012.

White-breasted nuthatch.

Cold and sunny. Hint of a breeze. Got a lot done before two dogs and I took a little trip to Beech Hill.

Two dogs, Beech Hill, Rockport, Maine, 16 January 2012.

Two dogs.

I’m not sure if Jack’s friend Boone had hiked the hill before, but he seemed to enjoy it, icy or no. Smells of many dogs, long views, even an actual dog—a young Spanish water dog, walking with its two bundled-up humans. Boone had to get used to me calling “wait” every so often, so I could stop and snap photos, but he seemed to catch on pretty quick.

Nuthatch, chickadee, flicker, kinglet. High-looking layers of clouds overspreading.
