Cold Wave

Black-capped Chickadee (with bayberry), Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 14 November 2022.
Black-capped Chickadee (with bayberry).

Rained again overnight, but this day dawned sunny. Also windy. Also cold.

Not really that awful cold, but the first freezing temperatures of fall combined with a good, stout northwest wind will numb your face and fingers. Jack and I, we dug it. Nice to experience the first sign of a new Maine season.

Ten bird species again, and several of ’em posed for photos. Perhaps the most noteworthy among them was the raven that flew rapidly overhead, croaking.
