Overcast and Nippy

Black-billed Magpie, East Millcreek, Salt Lake City, Utah, 09 December 2019.
Black-billed Magpie.

Overcast and nippy first thing, but with a slow clearing toward midday. Met no dogs or humans on the trail this morning—but saw plenty of juncos (and fewer other birds). Also marveled at how many mule deer tracks there were. Herds of them follow the switchback paths in the off-hours to hunt for grub in the neighborhood, apparently.

Most photogenic bird today: Dark-eyed Junco.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
