This is winter

Cold summit, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 07 January 2015.

Cold summit.

Pretty cold out there when first I looked. Got to work early—and started to feel like I’ve got a cold coming on. Groped through the haze of morning, dashed home for some soup at lunch, then hiked up chilly Beech Hill with dog. In the parking lot was a pickup with a Texas Longhorns logo decal, so I made sure to accost the people coming down with a grin and a “Hook ’em.”

Only hooked one bird up there: a distant gull. Not many elsewhere either.

Six degree out there just now tonight—and windy. This, y’all, is winter.
