Today was supposed to be a bright, clear, sunny one—but the sun didn’t emerge until mid-afternoon, when Jack and I were at the summit of Beech Hill. Mid-afternoon being close to sundown these days, the angular light reddened the snowless barrens and lit up a few islands in the bay.
Most notable bird today: a ruddy, white-rumped Northern Harrier, flying swiftly in the direction of the sun.
