It got cold overnight, and the day dawned overcast, and there were reports here and there about spitting snow. I saw none, but the temperature didn’t get far out of the 30s (F), if at all. Had a crazy sort of day, ran around a little, then Jack and I headed out by Chickawaukie Lake on our way to Beech Hill. Saw some ducks out there I couldn’t identify and a lone common loon.
Suddenly, sunset comes early. We didn’t beat it by much. Only one hiking party up there besides us. Not much in the way of bird life—although I did hear the chips of a yellow-rumped warbler. A lowering sky, a faint yellow sun just visible above the southwest horizon.
We had a nice, brisk hike. I love it up there. Don’t know quite what else to say.
