Yellow-rumps and Bluebirds

Eastern Bluebird (female).

I thought this might be a bluebird day—above freezing, sun and clouds—and it was. Also, I’ve been fascinated this winter by all the Yellow-rumped Warblers hanging out with bluebirds on the hill. The former were eating bayberries this morning, the latter (apparently) blueberries.

Eastern Bluebird.

A frosty, bright morning coaxed dog and me up the hill. The highlight of this breezy, freezy day: a solitary Snow Bunting and a little flock of bluebirds in the yellow winter grass.

American Crows.

Gray morning on the hill today (although the sky cleared up later). Had fun spying on crows. And then a raven showed up, distracting me (as ravens always do). Only got a distant look at the big evasive corvid—but we’ll meet again, I know.
