Temps in the teens to start—mid-teens, to be specific. A bit of a breeze, but not too strong. Still, I didn’t expect dog and I to encounter very many bird species. I was wrong.
Few coming up through the woods, for sure. But at the summit, bluebirds. And goldfinches. A yellow-rump. Even—down on the other side—the voice of a jay. And returning up the slope, a highlight: a Snow Bunting.
And not done yet! Nearing the end of our hike, I heard the voice of a Golden-crowned Kinglet. Even got a couple photos of the bird. And then a Brown Creeper appeared.
Honestly didn’t expect to have so much fun this morning.
