Sub-freezing for a change—and dog and I didn’t hit the icy trail until late morning. Really quiet up there today. Had only one bird species (magpie) until half-way through our hike, and only two (chickadee) until the last five or ten minutes, when flicker and eagle made an appearance. At the very end, I heard a scrub jay.
(Flicker in the neighborhood, as well.)
