I don’t often take flash photos of wild birds. And I didn’t expect to be taking one today—a blue-sky day with luscious clouds and the occasional, brief rain shower—but a pair of little Black-and-white Warblers down in the trees by the parking lot insisted on poking around in the shade.
Up the hill, I didn’t actually see many birds—although a Pileated Woodpecker in flight was a nice switch—but it’s that migration time of year, when the little guys are stocking up for their night flights south. Not a lot of casual activity. Everything is purposeful in September.
