Cooper’s

Saturday, January 17th, 2015
Cooper’s Hawk, Route 1, Rockland, Maine, 17 January 2015.

Cooper’s Hawk.

Ahhh, a day without responsibilities. Well, work responsibilities, I mean—because I had a ton of chores to do. Which I did (Jack came, too). I also took a hike.

Southern exposure, Route 1, Rockland, Maine, 17 January 2015.

Southern exposure.

Not much at Beech Hill today except cold temperatures, a brisk wind, and nice sunny views. But afterward, on an errand in town, I happened to spot a Cooper’s Hawk on a utility line above busy Route 1 traffic. Snuck out to grab a photo, but it wouldn’t stick around as I tried to make my way to its sunny side.

Supposed to warm up tomorrow and maybe rain.

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
