Cold hawk(s)

Northern harrier, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 12 December 2013.

Northern harrier.

Wicked cold, clear December day. Teens (F), tops, and breezy. Took a brisk, bundled-up hike with Jack. One or two harriers up there. I think possibly two (as there were yesterday), since I watched one sail away to the southeast and not long after, one appeared low over the summit very near us. Got a decent photo of the second one—assuming it was a second one, i.e., that there were two.

Jack boy.

Met the new CMLT stewardship manager today. (She’d just spent about eight hours outside in the wicked cold.)
