Busy Monday. Up early, worked a lot, did a couple brief errands, hiked Beech Hill with Jack. It being deer season, he wore his “life jacket” again.
Cold, clear, and calm up there. Not many birds that I could hear, and only one species that I could see. I heard them first, the snow buntings flying around above the hill. I followed their faint burbles and occasional buzzes and spotted them—four or five. I aimed my camera toward them without even looking through the viewfinder and snapped off a few photos, not knowing what I would get. Son of a gun if I didn’t get something.
Not a lot of people up there, either. Truly lovely, though.
