The Slushening

Soggy dog, Beech Hill Preserve, Rockport, Maine, 23 January 2018.

Soggy dog.

Snow plus rain equals slush, and such were the conditions when Jack and I hiked Beech Hill this balmy, wet morning. Incredibly (and impressively) we were the second dog and human to hike this day—and possibly the last. Heard several birds, saw a couple chickadees.

[Note: Dog enjoyed himself despite what it looks like here.]

Bird Report is a (sometimes intermittent) record of the birds I encounter while hiking, see while driving, or spy outside my window. —Brian Willson
