Today started off sunny, relatively mild, and relatively windy. The temperature then began to plummet (as forecast), and the wind began to rise (as forecast). By the time Jack and I started up the sunny, bare slopes of Beech Hill, it was cold—and freakin’ howling.
Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I’ve felt such powerful wind. On the way up, I had trouble keeping from pitching forward onto the trail. In fact, I’m convinced I could’ve simply leaned back as if to fall and stayed upright without any effort. That windy. Fifty miles an hour? Sixty? I wouldn’t be surprised. A the summit we came upon about ten people up there hooting and hollering at the power of the wind.
Went out briefly tonight. Really freakin’ windy still—but colder.
