Bright Sirius

Wednesday, November 19th, 2014
Downy Woodpecker, near Meadow Street, Rockport, Maine, 19 November 2014.

Downy Woodpecker.

Today was a cold one—and, at first, a cloudless one. Eventually, a few small clouds showed up above the horizons, but the sun shone for the whole short photoperiod, essentially. In traveling around, I got a look at a Downy Woodpecker at work, a couple of Blue Jays in flight, and the usual other birds.

Water crust.

It was friggin’ cold up to Beech Hill. Two species up there, and ice on the trail.

Tonight is cold and ark with stars and a breeze that keeps moving leaves from one pile to another. Been a while since I’ve seen bright Sirius.
