I was chatting with my friend Chip at the summit of Beech Hill this afternoon when I heard the voices of geese. I dashed around the hut and saw a small flock of them headed south. Raised my trusty camera but couldn’t get a bead on them—never did focus the damn thing. Still, the resulting photo, as the flock entered a field of open sky made orange by the setting sun, struck me as kind of cool. A blurry rush of life and motion.
